Popular regions in Uganda and Rwanda
Nyungwe Forest National Park is nestled away in the middle of tea plantations, and carries the title of being the biggest mountain rain forest on the eastern side of the African continent, and also the oldest one in the whole of Africa. The forest is well preserved by the culture and people around it. Some say it is the most important site for biodiversity in Rwanda, being home to over a thousand different species of animals.
Nyungwe Forest is an absolute favorite with those on safari in Rwanda. Large tree canopy walk ways can be found scattered through-out the forest, and are one of the primary reasons that adventure seeking visitors end up spending so much time in the area. They ultimately allow you to see things that are unseen, and give a completely different perspective.
Wildlife is abundant in the forest. You find over 300 different bird species, 75 mammal species including the 13 primates, and there have also been the sightings of the golden monkeys. The forest is worth a day or two of your time if you are out on safari in east Africa.
