Popular Indian Ocean Islands
Almost ½ way between Africa and India are the Seychelles Islands. The combined surface area of the 115 small islands is a mere 455²km. It is surrounded by an Exclusive Economic Zone of 1.4km. The main island is Mahé with its capital Victoria and an International Airport it’s the main port of entry.
Two other islands of the group, Praslin and La Digue form with Mahé the main centers of economic activity. This is the destination for most tourists to the Seychelles as it has stunning beaches and the most wonderful hotels and beach resorts imaginable. Since the islands lie a mere 4° south of the equator the climate is tropical climate with many small coral atolls and reef islands making it an ideal snorkeling and scuba diving destination.
